The Yard Foreman reports directly to the Yard Manager and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the lumber yard, ensuring that materials are properly stored, organized, and prepared for shipping. This role requires leadership, attention to safety standards, and a deep knowledge of lumber products and yard operations. The Yard Foreman supervises yard staff and coordinates logistics to ensure efficient and timely fulfillment of customer orders.
Day to Day
- Coordinate the loading and unloading of shipments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliveries and receiving.
- Lead and manage the daily activities of the yard team, ensuring efficient organization, safety, and productivity.
- Train, mentor, and manage yard staff, providing direction on best practices and troubleshooting issues. Assign tasks and monitor performance.
- Oversee inventory control, including the receipt, storage, and organization of lumber and related materials.

Skill Set
- Great Attitude and a Team Player!
- 3+ years of experience in a lumber yard or similar outdoor environment; prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions, lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.), and stand for extended periods of time.
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage a team effectively
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficient with inventory management systems and basic computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other yard equipment safely
